Welcome to the ICHCC’s inaugural issue of the ICHCC® Journal for Health Care Professionals. It was in 1992 that I put together an outline for a certification agency that I thought would work well for health care practitioners. After completing the outline, I established goals to ensure the establishment of a primary research-based credentialing agency in life care planning. I made a list of my outlined goals, and they are presented in their order of importance as follows:

Accreditation.

Establish a Certification Board of Commissioners.

Ensure a job-task-inventory research would be conducted to establish the knowledge domains in life care planning and the subfactors that comprise each knowledge domain, or the essential tasks of life care planning.

Ensure subject matter experts/Commissioners were chosen to validate test items as they related to life care planning.

Ensure CLCP exams were validated as a whole.
-
Announce formally the establishment of a certification agency in life care planning to the practitioners of this health care service delivery system.

Establish a Journal for CLCP/CCLCP credentialed practitioners.
All goals have been met and continue to evolve and to be revised and applied to our agency through our research of practitioners who hold our CLCP® and/or CCLCP™ certifications. This brings me to the point of all of the success that the International Commission on Health Care Certification has encountered over the years. While I am humbled and honored to be the Founder and CEO of the ICHCC®, our success has been as a result of you, the practitioner. It has been you who carries our credentials; it is you who answer the survey instruments that we send that help us find answers and guidelines to include or revise in our accredited organization as well as in our item development and management; it is you who have joined many of your peers in the Association of Certified Life Care Planners (A-CLCP), and have engaged in the many webinar discussions that have been beneficial to your life care planning practice. Best of all, it is you who kept us on tract to spend two years of interactions, organization revisions, revising test development and item association with our knowledge domains, and our acceptance of standards from ANAB that were crucial to improving our overall business structure and testing protocols. Because of you, we were successful in achieving our international accreditation through ANAB.
Since the 1990’s and the development of the CLCP® and the CCLCP™ certifications, the ICHCC® has established and developed the Medicare Set-Aside Certified Consultant™ (MSCC®), the Certified Medical Cost Projection Specialist™ (CMCPS®), and the Certified Geriatric Care Manager™ (CGCM®) certifications. The ICHCC® Journal welcomes manuscripts that offer practice information and strategies for all of its credentials as well as other areas of practice in the health care practice system.
This Journal means a lot to us knowing that you and your peers will enjoy its content of manuscripts. We established the ICHCC® Journal for Health Care Professionals for you and are proud to offer this journal without cost to you and your peers. Please know that we hope you will submit to the Journal a manuscript addressing a health care issue of your choice. We look forward to hearing from you regarding any suggestions and any ideas you may have from your reading of the journal articles.
